The semi-private facility in Laurel, Md., was recently purchased by Alan Cohen, a first-time golf course owner, from former owner/operator Fore Golf Partners. A five-year contract has been signed with Cohen for Landscapes to control club and golf course operations. Patuxent Greens has a Russell Roberts-designed course and is planning a clubhouse renovation that will include development of a 250-guest banquet space.
Patuxent Greens Golf Club, a semi-private facility in Laurel, Md., has retained Landscapes Management Co. (LMC) to provide third-party management services.
New owner Alan D. Cohen purchased the property from former owner/operator Fore Golf Partners. LMC subsequently signed a 5-year contract with Cohen and assumed control of club and golf course operations.
Patuxent Greens GC features an 18-hole, Russell Roberts-designed golf courses measuring 6,238-yards (par 71). Its location in Prince George’s County, Md. draws guests from both metropolitan Washington, D.C. and the greater Baltimore, Md. area. Patuxent Greens’ full-service clubhouse, already a popular wedding and event venue, is scheduled for renovation that will include development of a new banquet space that will accommodate up to 250 guests.
Added Cohen, a first-time golf course owner: “We are excited by the opportunities for Patuxent Greens and, with Landscapes on board, we can be sure to make the most of those opportunities,” said Cohen, a first-time golf course owner. “We love the course and location. With a few capital improvements and renewed focus on service and hospitality, we believe the course can truly flourish.”
The Patuxent contract, which was initiated through a referral to Cohen by Bob Ferrell, owner of Mountain View Golf Club in Fairfield, Pa., now gives LMC more than 50 client properties currently under management in 18 states, Canada and China.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to manage operations at Patuxent Greens, where we plan to increase programing, leverage economies of scale and engage in several important agronomic initiatives,” said Tom Everett, President of Lincoln, Neb.-based Landscapes Management Co. “Landscapes is growing quite quickly in the Mid-Atlantic region, which is good news for all our clients there, as the more properties we manage in a region, the more robust those economies of scale become. That is a direct path to better profitability.”
Other Landscapes Unlimited clients in the mid-Atlantic region include Renditions Golf Club in Davidsonville, Md, Butlers Golf Club in Elizabeth, Pa. and three properties in Virginia (Ballyhack GC in Roanoke, Winchester CC and Fredericksburg CC).
