Billy Casper Golf has been selected to manage golf operations for Bradford Creek Public Golf Course in Greenville, N.C., and golf and recreational amenities for The Island Country Club in Plaquemine, La. Honours Golf will manage the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
Billy Casper Golf (BCG) has been selected by the Greenville City Council to manage golf operations for Bradford Creek Public Golf Course in Greenville, N.C., beginning January 1, 2018.
“As Greenville’s only public golf course, Bradford Creek holds an important place in our community,” said Dean Foy, Greenville Parks Superintendent. “Partnering with Billy Casper Golf allows us to operate much more efficiently, ensuring residents can enjoy our beautiful course for years to come.”
Bradford Creek was set up as an enterprise fund when the City of Greenville purchased it in 1999, soon after flooding from Hurricane Floyd. Revenue shortfalls at the course have long been a concern for the city.
BCG will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training, merchandising, food and beverage, golf instruction and financial management for Bradford Creek’s 18-hole course. Operations will be locally managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, and supported by both a regional and national team that provide expert guidance and direction in all facets of the business.
In addition to overseeing equipment and capital improvements, BCG will also implement new programming and events to ensure that every member and guest has a fun and enjoyable golf experience every time they play.
“Bradford Creek represents a huge asset to the Greenville community,” says Chip Harris, BCG Regional Manager. “We look forward to reinvigorating the golf programming to attract new audiences and increase rounds played.”
Bradford Creek boasts the area’s only lighted driving range, a clubhouse ideal for hosting private and community events and a full-service pro shop.
BCG has also been chosen by A. Wilbert’s Sons, LLC to manage The Island Country Club in Plaquemine, La. BCG will oversee golf operations as well as the restaurant, pool, tennis and fitness facilities.
BCG will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training, merchandising, food and beverage, golf instruction and financial management for The Island’s 160-acre Tif-Eagle course. Operations will be locally managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, and supported by both a regional and national team.
“The Island boasts a championship course that’s a big draw for golfers in southeastern Louisiana,” said Joe Goodrich, BCG Executive Vice President. “We look forward to enhancing the club experience for members and guests alike.”
The Island is a member of Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Trail, a collection of first-class courses throughout the state. Although named for naturalist/artist John James Audubon, who painted a number of his famous bird studies in Louisiana, all members of the Audubon Golf Trail are coincidentally also members of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf Courses, a program dedicated to protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of the game of golf.
Honours Golf, a division of Troon®, has been selected to manage the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
Established in May 2013, the semi-private Mystic Creek Golf Club is nestled among the cathedral pines of southern Arkansas. The club’s 18-hole Kenneth Dye, Jr.-designed course debuted in 2013. The 7,492-yard par 72 course flows through the rolling timberlines of southern central Arkansas.
“Mystic Creek is a stunning course on what can only be described as a magnificent piece of property,” said Bob Barrett CEO of Honours Golf. “With generous fairways and dramatic bunkering reminiscent of A.W. Tillinghast’s work, the course offers tour-quality playing surfaces while delivering an exciting and memorable round every time you play. Mystic Creek is a true gem. We are excited to begin this partnership with Mystic Creek and look forward to enhancing the member and guest experience.”
