The Executive Manager of the Detroit Athletic Club will be honored at a luncheon on November 30th, in recognition of his leadership during the club’s resurgence and transformation, leading up to the DAC’s Clubhouse Centennial in 2015. “Ted has played an instrumental part in the DAC’s ongoing prominence among private clubs in the country,” said the Association’s President.
The Detroit Executives Association has named Ted Gillary, Executive Manager of the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) as its “Executive of the Year.” Gillary, who has been the club’s top manager since 1994, will be honored at a luncheon that will be held at the DAC on Thursday, November 30th.
The honor recognized Gillary for his leadership during the club’s resurgence and transformation under his tenure as Executive Manager, leading up to the DAC’s Clubhouse Centennial in 2015.
“Ted has played an instrumental part in the DAC’s ongoing prominence among private clubs around the country,” said Detroit Executives Association President Geoff Thompson.
“During Ted’s tenure, the DAC renewed a commitment to its downtown location by investing substantially in the clubhouse and property, and committed to guiding the club on a quality improvement path through performance excellence strategies and employee engagement practices,” Thompson added.
“We’re thrilled for Ted,” said Pat O’Keefe, the DAC’s current President. “This honor is well-deserved and truly recognizes the great work he’s done on behalf of our club. He represents the best of the best in our industry.”
Now in its 35th year, the association’s annual Executive of the Year Award is presented to a business or community leader who exhibits exceptional leadership and devotion to the betterment of the Detroit area.
Past “Executive of the Year” honorees include Crain’s Detroit Business Publisher Mary Kramer (who was also the first woman President of the DAC); Cynthia J. Pasky, Founder, President and CEO of Strategic Staffing Solutions; Ken Holland, General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings; Anthony Earley, CEO of DTE Energy; and Josh Linkner, CEO of ePrize.
The Detroit Executives Association was founded in 1926 and is comprised of business owners and principal decision-makers in and around the Detroit metropolitan area. The association was built on the premise that members will work together to promote not only their own business, but other members businesses as well, through the exchange of leads at weekly meetings that are held at the Detroit Athletic Club.
