The Titusville, Fla., property welcomed new Executive Chef Daro Chan on September 1, and is opening doors to non-members to try out the newly updated culinary offerings. Chan highlighted the Lemongrass and Chicken Wontons and the Smoked Salmon Cheesecake as signature dishes.
At La Cita Country Club, new ownership and management are bringing a renaissance to the Titusville, Fla., landmark, the Brevard County-based Florida Today reported.
For years a members-only enclave that non-members could enjoy only at a special function, La Cita CC will soon welcome non-members into its fold to try out a revamped menu developed by Executive Chef Daro Chan, who joined the property on September 1, Today reported.
Under Chan’s leadership in the kitchen, La Cita CC hopes to charm many guests from the general community to visit and potentially join the club, Today reported.
In a Q&A with the chef, Today reported that Chan previously worked at Walkabout Golf Course and The Hideaway Restaurant in Mims, Fla., which got rebranded as Indian River Preserve Golf Club and Andrei’s Restaurant.
“This past summer, the owners of La Cita Country Club asked me if I would entertain being their Executive Chef,” Chan said. “With the new owner doing a club makeover inside and out, this opportunity was basically like opening a new place. So ‘yes’ was my answer.”
Chan brought some of his culinary team from the previous property. Chan has worked at The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas, the Surf and Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach, Calif., the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla., the Pensacola (Fla.) Yacht Club, and as traveling corporate chef with Service Hotel Management Corporation, Today reported.
When Today asked which dishes are signature items, Chan highlighted the Lemongrass and Chicken Wontons (poached wontons in a red curry coconut broth) and the Smoked Salmon Cheesecake appetizer.
The dining room will open to non-members starting November 1. Wednesdays are Prime Rib Nights, and the kitchen serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday brunch. Holiday events are on the schedule as well: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Brunch, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Fourth of July are all open to non-members. Other events, such as Halloween, New Year’s Eve, winemaker dinners, beer tastings and more are reserved for members only and can be enjoyed via an entry-level social membership, Today reported.
