The Friends of the South Shore Country Club, which was created recently to raise private funds to help make improvements to the Hingham, Mass., course, will help construct an indoor-outdoor pool facility and wellness center at the property.
Following a successful summer, South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Mass., is gearing up for an activity-filled fall season, the Hingham Journal reported.
“We’re having a good year,” said Director of Operations Jay McGrail. “September and October are really busy months for us. It won’t quiet down until November.”
Currently much of McGrail’s time is taken up with the pool feasibility study/design plans project that’s underway following a $75,000 Town-Meeting appropriation from Community Preservation Act money. A number of options will be considered, with the overall goal of ensuring that the club continues to feature a pool facility, the Journal reported.
“I’m excited about some of the different ideas we’re working on,” McGrail said.
The Friends of the South Shore Country Club was created recently to raise private funds to help make ongoing improvements to the course and to help construct an indoor-outdoor pool facility and wellness center on the grounds that will benefit residents of all ages, the Journal reported.
Next up is the Hingham Scramble Championship on October 2 at noon, organized by the Friends this year. The 2016 event raised $30,000 for course improvements, the Journal reported.
“We’re looking for golfers and sponsors,” McGrail said. “Among this year’s prizes are trips to the British Open and to the Masters Golf Tournament.”
In addition to regular golf, the club offers golf simulators and tournaments of all kinds in addition to bowling, tennis, swimming, summer camp, and many other activities, the Journal reported.
“We have a great board and appreciate our volunteers as well,” McGrail said.
Following the Scramble, the focus will be on planning for the annual Halloween party on October 27, in cooperation with Hingham Rec. The event will offer free fun for different ages—hayrides, bouncy houses, and other fall activities, the Journal reported.
The property is offering a new football special this fall. “On Mondays following a Patriots’ win, golfers can play 18 holes with a cart for $45 throughout the season,” said Head Golf Professional Chris Riley. Tee times are mandatory and the offer is valid all day, the Journal reported.
