The club reopened its clubhouse this summer after a year-long project that expanded the facility by 5,500 sq. ft., and features a new fitness room and grand entrance, and expanded members’ dining room and outdoor dining area. The club also unveiled a new logo last spring.
It’s been a year of change for Eugene (Ore.) Country Club, the Eugene-based Register-Guard reported.
This summer, the club reopened its clubhouse after an $11.8 million remodeling project that began in June 2016, and last spring unveiled a new logo, a streamlined rendition of a Douglas fir with the trunk bisecting the date the club was founded, 1899, the Register-Guard reported.
In approving funds for the clubhouse upgrade, in three separate votes, members agreed to increase their monthly dues by $59, with much of the project financed by club reserves. In addition to modernizing the clubhouse infrastructure and providing greater efficiencies in service, the remodel significantly improved the clubhouse views of its golf course, which in August 2018 will host the U.S. Golf Association’s Senior Men’s Amateur Championship, the Register-Guard reported.
Key elements of the renovation, which expanded the clubhouse size by 5,500 sq. ft., to 44,000 sq. ft., include:
—A new, and grander covered grand entrance, featuring sweeping views of the golf course, including the 18th green and beyond.
—A relocated, expanded and modernized members’ dining room with views of the course from behind the ninth green.
—An expanded outside dining area, with room for 100 people, almost double the previous capacity.
—A new fitness room, just under 2,000 sq. ft., with windows overlooking the first tee and out to the golf course.
Member response has been “overwhelmingly positive,” said General Manager Rick Spurlin, particularly in regard to the freshened interior decor which gives the facility a more unified look. The club membership—500 golf members and roughly 200 social members— is full and that the club has a waiting list, the Register-Guard reported.
