Club and resort properties are always working to find new twists on social events, and by inviting members’ furry best friends to a recent “Yappy Hour” event, Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J., brought new energy to the facility.
The club hosted the event on July 13, inviting members to put their canine pals on a leash from 6 to 9 p.m. and bring them to the club’s back patio by the putting greens for an evening of gourmet treats for the pooches and cocktails for their masters. The facility provided a doggie wading pool, which many dogs enjoyed, as well as a photo booth, General Manager John Goodwin reports.
The Animal Welfare Association, a nonprofit animal rescue organization that operates a nearby no-kill shelter, benefited from the event. Though there was no cover charge, the club added an extra $1 to each drink to be used as a donation, and the organization also set up a donation table on-site.
“We wanted to provide our customer base with something different to do, and we like to host events for the community,” says Goodwin. “It’s a chance for people with common interests to get out and meet, and to get Ramblewood a little more on top of their minds.”
The July event was the first time Yappy Hour was held, and Ramblewood plans to continue offering it next summer.
