The program at the San Martin, Calif., property gives golfers access to a butler who can coordinate post-round food and drinks, speed up a round if there’s a flight to catch, and even offer Advil and schedule a massage for golfers who pull a muscle.
Rosewood CordeValle in San Martin, Calif., recently launched its golf butler program for guests of the 1,700-acre golf property, Forbes reported.
CordeValle is built around a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed 7,360-yard championship golf course. The butler service is available to all players, though the course may only be played by club members and overnight hotel guests. The experience begins with a friendly hello at a check-in desk near the first tee, then connecting the Visage GPS system that will track your round of play, to let the butler find you as needs arise. The butler is there to coordinate food, drinks, and special arrangements like speeding up a round if there’s a timely flight or meeting to catch. Players have the option of the full 18-hole experience or a faster par-three game on the same fairways, Forbes reported.
Throughout the round, messages pop up on the interactive cart screen to make sure players are well fed and happy. Director of Golf Lloyd Martindale checks in often to make sure the pace of play is satisfactory. If players forget something or have a question, the butler can bring items from cars or lockers, or deliver sunscreen, golf balls or a jacket, Forbes reported.
Adrian Noble, the resort’s group golf coordinator, plays butler, too, as when a gentlemen called the butler hotline for some Advil after straining his lower back on the back nine, Forbes reported.
“The golf butler brought out Advil and a bottle of water to the guest, and offered to set up a massage treatment in our spa for after his round of golf,” said Noble. “The guest was absolutely thrilled because he had not thought of that. After checking for spa availability, the butler drove back out to inform the guest that when he came off the course he had a 90-minute massage appointment booked for him.”
CordeValle requires non-members to use a caddie to play the course. The property features 45 guest rooms, including 28 discreet bungalows, three large fairway homes and five 1,100-sq. ft. hillside villas. The property also has tennis and its own vineyard and winery, Forbes reported.
