The Edina, Minn., club will undergo a facility-wide upgrade that is set to be complete in 2019. The project includes updates to the property’s grounds, tennis building, and Pool House, the addition of a Golf Performance Center, and renovation of the clubhouse’s bar and dining facilities, fitness center, and a new Youth Activity Center. A bunker improvement project is already underway.
Members of Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., have approved a $9.5 million facilities upgrade project that will be complete in 2019, 100 years after Donald Ross began working on the club’s golf course.

According to General Manager/COO Joel Livingood, the project aims to achieve three goals: improve the membership experience and value; maintain financial stability, including a more competitive dues structure for the full membership; and attract and retail quality team members.
Site plans include replacing the current clubhouse walkway to improve drainage, safety and appearance, resurfacing the parking lot and adding a designated walkway, and installing two raised paddle tennis courts near the existing Tennis Building, as well as a flexible lawn.
The Tennis Building will be renamed The Lodge, and will receive a light refresh to include an expanded social space, new furniture, and updated walkways, landscaping, and outdoor furniture. In the Pool House, locker rooms will be remodeled with new lockers, changing rooms, showers, wall coverings, tile and bathroom fixtures.
On the main level of the clubhouse, the Bobby Jones Pub will expand its bar, add a wine cellar, and expand seating from 42 to 54. The existing Patty Berg Room will be remodeled to display the club’s vast archive collection, and a new terrace will be added with views of the golf course and downtown Minneapolis with a variety of seating options. The casual Fairway Dining Room will be renovated to accommodate family-friendly dining, with a new fireplace and private dining room.
The lower level of the clubhouse will see the expansion of the fitness center, which will measure 2,544 sq. ft. and feature a fitness studio, cardio equipment, strength training and golf-centered fitness programming. The new Youth Activity Center will serve as home base for the club’s youth programs, and will include a variety of games and activities in a multipurpose space. The Turn Bar will serve as the halfway stop for golfers and will feature a full bar and fast-casual menu.
The club’s Golf Performance Center will feature two simulators, a custom-built putting and chipping green, and ample space for golf cart storage.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2018 and be complete in early 2019.
