Charlotte, N.C.-based Pinnacle Golf Properties will operate five new golf courses, including Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill, S.C., The Divide Golf Club in Matthews, N.C., Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville, N.C., and The Tradition Golf Club and Highland Creek Golf Club, both in Charlotte. OB Sports will take over management of Hunter’s Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Pinnacle Golf Properties (PGP) has added five Charlotte-area golf clubs to its portfolio, as well as a new Financial Services Division.
The recent five-club portfolio is owned by Canadian based Romspen Club Holdings and includes: Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill, S.C., The Divide Golf Club in Matthews, N.C., Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville, N.C., and The Tradition Golf Club and Highland Creek Golf Club, both in Charlotte.
“We are extremely excited to add the five Charlotte area courses to our growing portfolio and to expand to eight courses in our hometown of Charlotte,” said David Taylor, Managing Partner and President. “PGP is known for quality service and premier course conditions. These golf courses represent some of Charlotte’s best layouts and we will continue making improvements to provide area golfers a premier golf experience at a truly affordable price.”
As part of package of services, PGP has also announced the launch of its Financial Services Division (FSD) to provide financial expertise and reporting to clubs seeking the experience and buying power of a multi-course operator but without giving up management control. In late 2016, PGP hired Roger Wolfe, a veteran Certified Club Manager and financial accountant to serve as PGP’s FSD Chief Financial Officer.
“Managing a golf club and ensuring its economic success requires both a love of the game along with proven financial skills,” said Kim Worrel, Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer. “Without question, the financial side of club management and integrating this with marketing are perhaps the biggest challenge today’s club owners and operators face on a daily basis.
“Through conversations and experience with both current and prospective clients, it became clear that a common concern of just about every Board, owner and operator was whether they were running their business with affordable and sufficient financial controls,” Worrel said.
The PGP Financial Services division allows clients the ability to leverage the company’s experience while providing peace of mind that the day-to-day financial controls and reporting are being produced timely and accurately.
OB Sports Golf Management has assumed club management duties for Hunter’s Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., which was previously part of the OB Family of courses from 2008 to 2014. OB Sports will oversee all golf and restaurant operations for the popular public facility.
“We look forward to having another successful partnership with Hunter’s Creek Golf Club,” said Phil Green, Chief Operating Officer. “Hunters Creek has proven to be the home of a very active and loyal player base, and our priority is to provide them with an outstanding experience every time out.”
Located minutes from Walt Disney World Resort and the Orlando International Airport, Hunter’s Creek Golf Club has been described as an Orlando “must-play.” The Lloyd Clifton-design stretches to 7,268 yards from the back tees, and is highlighted by strategically placed bunkering, expansive TifEagle greens, and meandering fairways that run seamlessly around thirteen shimmering lakes.
Originally opened in 1986, Hunter’s Creek is a popular site of numerous tournaments and events, including U.S. Open Qualifying, PGA Tour Qualifying and the 2008 FSGA Florida State Public Links Championship.
