Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club in Naples, Fla., broke ground on a $800,000 golf course project on May 15. The project is expected to be complete in mid-October.
The project is being completed with no assessment to members. Renovations to the Larry Packard original design will use multiple turf grass species and will include the installation of major drainage systems, and renovation of bunkers. The project will focus on high impact areas with the reshaping of landing areas on the fairways and approaches before the green. Over 50 acres of rough will be replaced using Celebration grass in addition to cart path work.
“The primary focus of the renovation will be on Eagle Creek’s 4 famous finishing holes,” Golf Course Superintendent Jimmy Alston said. “These holes are proven to be some of the best in Florida as this is a signature of Larry Packard’s golf course designs.”
This renovation is in addition to gradual work done in 2015 and 2016, resulting in $2 million in course enhancements over a three-year period. Alston states that
“This gradual approach to the renovation process ensures the integrity and maturity of the original design,” Alston said.
Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club is a small, private gated community centrally located between Naples & Marco Island, on 300 wooded acres of cypress, pine and palm trees.
