Members have approved the project, which will see the first phase of work in summer 2018 and the second in summer 2019. The project will add 23,895 sq. ft. to the clubhouse and renovate 7,164 sq. ft. of existing space, adding an outdoor covered dining area, expanding the ballroom, and upgrading and expanding the lower level for staff needs.
In March, members of The Club at Mediterra in Naples, Fla., approved a $12 million renovation project for the clubhouse that will benefit both members and club staff.
Site work will begin this summer, and the clubhouse will be renovated in two phases, with the first taking place in summer 2018 and the second in summer 2019. There will be little to no disruption to member service during that time, the club reported.
The project will add 23,895 sq. ft. of new space and renovate 7,164 sq. ft. of existing space. The key design considerations will include:
- Additional outdoor covered casual dining space
- New and larger gathering bar
- Expanded dining terraces facing the golf courses
- Additional 50-60 person Garden Room
- Expanded ballroom for member events
- Improved access to all dining areas from the main entrance
- Expanded lower-level for staff needs
- Increased and more accessible storage space
The expansion represents the next step in the property’s Facilities Master Plan that was presented to members last March. The clubhouse is currently 17 years old, and while the tavern was added in 2008 and the kitchen and grille room were upgraded in 2013, an increase in membership and the number of staff have prompted the need for the renovation, the club reported.
