Three people suspected of starting a fire that caused extensive damage to Bent Tree Golf Course in Jackson, Tenn., in 2015 have been indicted by a Madison County grand jury, the Jackson Sun reported.
Aiden Mitchem, Skylar Reis, and Nicolas Robinson are facing charges of arson, criminal trespass, and vandalism after the fire started near the pro shop at the golf course around midnight August 11, the Sun reported.
According to their indictment, the three “knowingly caused damage by means of a fire” and were on the property without authorization. Court documents say the pro shop and about 40 golf carts were fully engulfed when fire department crews arrived, and traces of gasoline were found on the wooden stairs and porch of the pro shop, the Sun reported.
All three previously admitted to police that they were at the golf course when the fire started, but told investigators that the fire was not intentionally set. Court documents say they told investigators the fire started when they attempted to steal gasoline from the golf carts, the Sun reported.
The damage to the golf course totaled more than $250,000, the Sun reported.
