The original Mountain Shadows hotel, built in 1959 in Paradise Valley, Ariz., is now being rebuilt from the ground up into a 183-room luxury boutique hotel and resort.
While it will share its name and a certain modernist inspiration with the original, the new hotel will feature modern architecture, including floor-to-ceiling glass windows, outdoor patios and terraces, and a presidential suite that faces Camelback Mountain.
Scheduled to debut in 2017, the $100 million new resort will offer 12,500 sq. ft. of indoor meeting and event space, and 25,000 sq. ft. of outdoor space groups can use for corporate retreats and other group events. The 4,500-sq. ft. Paradise Ballroom and its 3,700-sq. ft. terrace are designed to showcase Camelback Mountain views. The Paradise Ballroom also includes 4,300 sq. ft. of pre-function space.
Among the hotel’s other meeting spaces are the 1,100-sq. ft. Valley Room, and meeting and boardrooms that range from 300 sq. ft. to 1,000 sq. ft. A 4,000-sq. ft. Camelback Overlook event deck features a built-in service bar for receptions and other special events.
The resort also will offer the Hearth ’61 restaurant, a par-3 golf course, a patio and lounge, two pools, a fitness facility, a boutique shop, guided hikes, and a yoga/cycle center.
