Dallas-based Woodbine Development and Scottsdale’s Westroc Hospitality have teamed up to renovate the Mountain Shadows Resort in Paradise Valley, Ariz., which originally opened in 1959 and was torn down in 2014, the Phoenix Business Journal reported.
The new resort will include 183 modern guest rooms, a luxury wing with 42 condos and suites, a restaurant with an exhibition kitchen, two pools, a high-tech fitness facility, and a fully revamped short course featuring 18 holes. The resort will also have 12,500 sq. ft. of indoor meeting space complemented by 25,000 sq. ft. of outdoor event space, including a roof deck with a private bar, the Business Journal reported.
The resort and accompanying golf course will cost $75 million, and the luxury wing of condos and suites will cost $38 million. The resort is slated to open in early 2017, the Business Journal reported.
Mountain Shadows will have Andrew Chippindall as its General Manager and vice president. Chippindall, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, has worked for Westroc as front office manager for Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort in 2001, and in 2005 became General Manager of Hotel Valley Ho as part of the pre-opening team, the Business Journal reported.
“It’s been a great pleasure to work at the Westroc collection of independent hotels and resorts, and I am delighted to lead the team at the new Mountain Shadows,” Chippindall said. “The unparalleled views of Camelback Mountain and the unique desert modern design will truly set the resort apart.”
