After his perfect attendance record at school earned Taylor Crozier of Corpus Christi, Texas a chance to play with Woods at the opening of the Montgomery, Texas property’s new short course, the youngster stepped up and scored an ace on the 81-yard, par-3 first hole.
Bluejack National, the new property in Montgomery, Texas that features the first golf course designed in the U.S. by Tiger Woods and was the subject of C&RB‘s January 2016 cover story (http://clubandresortbusiness.com/2016/01/27/major-aspirations/), officially opened its new 10-hole short course, “The Playgrounds,” on March 2. And the club’s owners and management couldn’t have scripted a better way to promote the fun-for-all-ages intent that gave the course its name than to have a kid upstage Woods by rolling in a hole-in-one on the opening hole.
Eleven-year-old Taylor Crozier of Corpus Christi, Texas—one of two junior players who earned the right, by virtue of his perfect school attendance, to be selected by the South Texas PGA to participate in the course opening with Woods—stepped up and knocked his tee shot straight at the cup of the 81-yard, par-3 opening hole of “The Playgrounds.” After Crozier’s shot then rolled a few feet and dropped in for an ace, Woods wrapped him in a bear hug as the crowd roared.
Woods then stepped up to take his own shot and, still in amazement over what Crozier had done, asked “Are you kidding me right now?”
Here’s the video of Crozier’s shot, and the reaction of the crowd and Woods, as it all occurred during the opening of The Playgrounds:
