Toro is adding to its Greensmaster, Reelmaster, and Workman product lines, while contributing to the Environmental Institute for Golf and the American Society of Golf Course Architects Foundation, and is now offering the Toro Loyalty Credits (TLC™) parts rewards program.
The Toro Company has released multiple announcements, from product releases to philanthropic efforts.
New and Improved Products:
- Toro has added a new member to the industry-leading Greensmaster® family of riding greens mowers. The Greensmaster 3120 is an ideal riding greens mower for budget-challenged golf courses that want to achieve outstanding course conditions, but whose budget may not align with more feature-rich alternatives. This unit utilizes the proven Greensmaster platform in combination with Toro’s innovative cutting system to provide a precise cut with every pass.
The Greensmaster 3120 is powered by a 16-horsepower Vanguard® V-Twin engine with a HydroGear®* hydrostatic transmission. The mower also features a robust transport speed of up to 7 mph making the new Greensmaster 3120 a highly productive and versatile mower. More importantly, the Greensmaster 3120 includes the innovative new EdgeSeries™ Reels that deliver improved cut quality and efficiency as a result of refined manufacturing techniques and geometry changes. Improved blade materials also prolong reel life and edge retention. These innovations keep the reels sharp longer, and require less maintenance in terms of grinding and backlapping. Taken together, the improvements in the design of the cutting system will help reduce maintenance costs, improve productivity and promote the health of your turf.
The Greensmaster 3120 will be available for delivery in March of 2016. To learn more about the new Greensmaster 3120 riding greens mower or other Toro products, click here.
- Toro has also announced the release of the Greensmaster® Flex™ 1820 and 2120. These new walk greens mower models continue to deliver a pristine aftercut appearance thanks to a number of innovative new features.
The new Greensmaster models include a user-friendly Multi-Disk wet clutch for easy drive engagement and feathering for ease of operation. As a result, operators can now engage at lower RPMs to make turnarounds in tight areas noticeably more convenient.
The clippings basket is now connected to the suspension cross-arm, as opposed to the traction unit frame. This subtle, but important, change allows the baskets to follow the cutting units precisely regardless of undulations of the terrain. Furthermore, the new design retains the unique Toro feature of distributing the weight of the basket evenly on the front and rear rollers, while the clippings fill the basket for a more consistent cut across the entire green.
Both the Greensmaster Flex 1820 and 2120 models are available now through Toro distributors around the globe.
- The Toro Company is excited to introduce two new models in the Reelmaster® family of fairway mowers: the Reelmaster 3555-D with 5-inch (12.7 cm) reels and the Reelmaster 3575-D with 7-inch (17.8 cm) reels. Both deliver a 100-inch (2.5 m) width of cut. The new mowers also feature Toro’s new EdgeSeries™ reels in 8- or 11-blade configurations.
These powerful machines feature Toro’s proven Dual Precision Adjustment (DPA) cutting units with EdgeSeries reels for a long-lasting, crisp, clean cut. The efficient traction system enhances maneuverability in hilly and wet conditions, while the three-wheel design minimizes turnaround time and wear-and-tear on turf. Additionally, the all-wheel drive traction system prevents wheel slip and loss of traction for improved performance.
The new Toro Reelmaster 3555-D/3755-D models are compact, yet powerful. New design enhancements optimize the power needed to drive the cutting units and traction system, maximizing the overall utilization and efficiency of the 24.8 hp (18.5 kW) engine. A quiet machine, the Reelmaster 3555-D/3575-D operates at 84 dBA at the operator’s ear, which is very low compared to a typical fairway mower. The Reelmaster 3555-D and 3575-D will be available for delivery in the spring of 2016.
- Toro has announced the launch of the all-new Workman® GTX utility vehicle, one of the most versatile grounds and turf crossover vehicles in its class. Combining superior comfort, control and versatility, the Workman GTX provides all the features to help tackle a multitude of tasks on and around the golf course.
Superintendents and equipment managers are able to select from several models to match the right vehicle to their specific needs. Among these options are four- and two-seat configurations, a variety of front- and rear-attachments for garbage cans, hose reels or walk spreaders, and a number of flatbed options to haul even the bulkiest materials. With over 300 configurations to fit almost any application, the Workman GTX is a highly versatile and cost-effective machine.
Operation of the Workman GTX is simple, thanks to an automotive-grade rack and pinion steering system that provides more control and easier steering to allow operators to focus on the task at hand and get the job done faster. In addition, class-exclusive coil-over shocks surround the vehicle and provide improved suspension for a smoother ride that minimizes operator fatigue. The Workman GTX will be available in spring of 2016.
- The Toro® Workman® MDX and MDX-D have been reintroduced to the golf industry with a number of new and improved upgrades. Since 2008, the Workman MDX has been a trusted staple within turf and grounds operations, and continues that legacy with improved performance, comfort and control.
The new Workman MDX now features increased horsepower compared to previous MDX vehicles, providing an impressive 1,250 lbs. (567 kg) of cargo capacity and 1,200 lbs. (544 kg) of towing capacity. Additionally, an improved carburetor-and-clutch calibration ensures shifting occurs during peak torque levels, allowing the engine to run at a higher RPM. Additionally, the automotive-grade rack-and-pinion steering system provides more control and minimizes steering effort. With more control, productivity is improved while minimizing potential operator fatigue.
The Workman MDX has been upgraded aesthetically as well. Virtually indestructible exterior components, gunmetal grey rims and a black cargo box give the MDX a modern and rugged look. Furthermore, the double-walled polyethylene bed, new front bumper and textured hood help prevent scratches and other damage to the exterior of the vehicle.
The Workman MDX and MDX-D will be available early spring 2016.
Philanthropy:
- The Toro Foundation has announced the donation of $25,000 to the American Society of Golf Course Architects Foundation to support production of the association’s new book, Golf & Water: Case Studies in Water Stewardship. Being released at the 2016 Golf Industry Show, the book includes a compilation of case studies to demonstrate how golf course design can positively impact the management of water.
Toro’s support of Golf & Water helps the ASGCA provide an insightful analysis of current trends in golf course design in the face of water quality, availability and usage restrictions. Golf & Water highlights recent advancements in irrigation technology and discusses the benefits of using less water. Additionally, the book serves as a platform to educate both players and the public alike about the environmental and economical advantages of more efficient water usage on golf courses for irrigation and maintenance purposes.
Golf & Water will be available on a limited basis at the 2016 Golf Industry Show in San Diego. Following the show, it will be available at the ASGCA website, www.asgca.org.
