The Lincoln, Neb., facility is enhancing its family sports and recreation programs by adding a larger driving range with more target areas and a short game practice area, which are expected to be complete by spring, as well as a new casual dining and bar area accompanying the recently renovated pool cabana.
Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln, Neb., said it is nearing completion of an extensive renovation program to improve and expand its facilities, including additional golf practice facilities and a new poolside restaurant and bar area, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.
General Manager Andy Reetz said in a news release that the upgrades will enhance the club’s family sports and recreation programs. Nearly 400 kids ages 6 to 18 compete on the club’s swimming, golf and tennis teams, the Journal Star reported.
“While Hillcrest is known for its historic golf course and clubhouse, it’s important to continually improve our facilities to provide the youth programs and amenities that families want in a club experience,” Reetz said.
Improvements to the golf practice facilities include a larger driving range with more target areas and bigger tee boxes; and a short-game practice area for chipping and bunker shots. Those improvements are expected to be completed by spring, the Journal Star reported.
Several new cart paths and improvements to two holes are underway on the golf course and are expected to be completed this summer. A new casual dining and bar area will accompany the recently renovated pool cabana. Other recently completed projects include resurfaced tennis courts and renovations of the clubhouse lobby and restrooms, the Journal Star reported.
Hillcrest is the latest local country club to make improvements. The Country Club of Lincoln just completed a $3.5 million project that included upgrades to its clubhouse, dining areas, fitness center and parking lot, the Journal Star reported.
Firethorn Golf Club is in the midst of a resort project that is adding a pool and workout center; a restaurant; tennis, volleyball and basketball courts; a bocce ball court; and a new par-3 golf course, as well as 42 new housing units, the Journal Star reported.
