The two-year, multimillion-dollar project in Romeoville, Ill., has yielded a 29,000-sq. ft. clubhouse featuring meeting space, indoor and outdoor event venues, a “Great Hall,” Terrace Room, and courtyard. McWethy’s Tavern, an upscale, pub-style restaurant, is included in the renovation as well.
The new clubhouse at Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, Ill., is now open to the public.
“A more than two-year, multi-million dollar transformation at Mistwood Golf Club has created a single destination featuring world-class, Scottish-style links golf, award-winning culinary talent and dining elegance at McWethy’s Tavern, and plentiful options for customized events,” said owner Jim McWethy.
“We are eager to introduce the new Mistwood Clubhouse to the community,” said General Manager Dan Bradley. “A grand opening is planned for April 19, but we are already seeing a steady crowd at McWethy’s Tavern and booking events in our beautiful meeting spaces. Please come in for a tour and grab a bite to eat!”
Mistwood’s Clubhouse offers more than 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space with panoramic views of Mistwood’s picturesque Scottish-like links golf course. A variety of indoor and outdoor settings are ideal for weddings, fundraisers and corporate meetings, receptions and more.
The elegant “Great Hall” can comfortably accommodate large parties of up to 240, including plenty of room for a seated dinner and dance floor. It has the cozy feel of a Scottish farmhouse, yet with a grand, castle-like entrance of bluestone flooring, distressed wood panels, and “Romeo and Juliette” balconies. Details like wood beam ceilings and hand-made wrought iron chandeliers add to the room’s richness and charm, but they belie the sophisticated, state-of-the-art lighting, sound and multi-media capabilities that are built-in.
The Terrace Room provides an elegant, intimate space for smaller groups of 50 or less. The inviting Courtyard is ideal for outdoor ceremonies and cocktails and, along with our old-world bell tower, adds a very special touch to photo opportunities.
“Nothing is more important or valuable at Mistwood than our experienced, passionate staff who are dedicated to making your event a very special, one-of-a-kind affair,” said Food & Beverage Director Jim Koklas. “Our event management team has more than 50 years of combined service in the event industry, and our Executive Chef Mark Angeles has served presidents and other dignitaries from around the world. These experts are committed to customizing every event and leaving each guest satisfied.”
McWethy’s Tavern is an upscale pub-style restaurant that reflects owner Jim McWethy’s Scottish ancestry, blending the best of the old and new worlds in an elegant yet warm, comfortable and satisfying dining experience. The restaurant offers a variety of dining environments such as fireside tables, semi-private dining areas, the stunning copper-top bar, and the patio, with its unobstructed panoramic views of the golf course. European-style chandeliers hang from the vaulted cedar ceiling and add to the restaurant’s dramatic charm.
“We don’t view ourselves as a golf course restaurant, but rather as a great restaurant for golfers and non-golfers alike that just happens to have a magnificent view of one of the most scenic golf courses in the region,” said Koklas.
Executive Chef Mark Angeles has assembled a fresh and imaginative menu of Scottish-inspired, American-made cuisine. Diners may start their experience with snack and share items like the Meat & Cheese Board, Scottish Ale Mussels & Frites, Jumbo Wings or Crispy Calamari, plus signature sandwiches like the “Butcher’s Steak Sandwich” and the “Dag”wood Club. Heartier appetites will appreciate the range of options, from Shepherd’s Pie, Roasted Sugar & Spice Salmon or Flaky Coconut Shrimp to a full range of flavorful steaks and chops. An extensive beer and wine menu, along with handcrafted and signature cocktails, complement any meal.
