The property association at the Myrtle Beach, S.C., club will take over ownership of the property’s tennis and swim facilities, including 13 tennis courts and a pool. The club’s current owner, The Jackson Companies, will convert the golf course to a daily-fee facility as of December 31.
Prestwick Country Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is eliminating golf memberships and becoming solely a daily fee golf course on December 31, Myrtle Beach Online reported.
The property association at Prestwick has decided to take over ownership of the club’s tennis and swim facilities, though it is still working on its final plan for the property and amenities. The facility opened as a private club in 1989 and has been semi-private for the past couple decades, Online reported.
Club owner The Jackson Companies is also ceasing to operate the tennis and swim facilities at the club after December 31, and according to a letter to homeowners, it offered to lease or convey those amenities to the community’s POA for $1 each so they can remain in operation at the discretion of the POA, Online reported.
Prestwick POA president Jeff Patterson said the homeowner group plans to close on the purchase by the end of the year. The purchase will include 13 tennis courts, a pool and some other facilities, Online reported.
“We will be taking possession of it,” Patterson said. “It will be a purchase and not a lease. We’re moving forward with a couple different discussions to how best use the land. We’re working toward finding out what the right solution is.”
Dennis Wade, CEO of The Jackson Companies, said in October that the company intends to continue operating the golf course for the foreseeable future, Online reported.
