The owner of the 63-year-old public golf course will close the Leesburg, Va., property at the end of the year and redevelop it into a nine-hole golf course, 33 single-family detached homes, 125 townhomes, a 132-room hotel, and a 6,000-sq. ft. restaurant. It is unclear when the development will open.
Kettler, the owner of the 18-hole Goose Creek Golf Club in Leesburg, Va., will shut down the 63-year-old public course on December 31, and by the middle of next year, will launch a full-scale redevelopment of its 111 acres, the Washington Business Journal reported.
The plan calls for the construction of a nine-hole golf course, 33 single-family detached homes, 125 townhomes, a 132-room hotel, and a 6,000-sq. ft. restaurant, the Business Journal reported.
The Loudoun Board approved Kettler’s redevelopment pitch in May, dismissing planning staff’s concerns about building residential so close to Luck Stone Quarry (the course backs up to it), among other comprehensive plan-related issues, the Business Journal reported.
Kettler acquired and remodeled the golf course in 2000. But the existing course, the developer argued in a submission to the county, “does not represent a reasonably viable economic use” of the property. It is unclear when the redesigned nine-hole course will open to the public, the Business Journal reported.
