The $150 million mixed-use community would include a Tiger Woods-designed golf course, plus two short courses, 800 homes, a fitness and health center, wellness center, town square, recreation center and music venue. Beacon Land Development hopes to start construction in March of next year.
A $150 million mixed-use community called the Farms at Thompson’s Station that could include a Tiger Woods-designed golf course is on the drawing boards for 1,229 acres in Williamson County, Tenn., the Nashville-based Tennessean reported.
Overall, Dallas-based Beacon Land Development has nearly 2,000 acres under contract for the project. Michael Abbott, the developer’s president, said Beacon Land hopes to start construction in March on the community. He expects components such as the golf course and two short courses that would cater to families to be ready a year later, the Tennessean reported.
Other planned components of the Farms at Thompson’s Station include 800 homes, a fitness and health center, a wellness center offering concierge medicine, a town square, a recreation center where children can sign up to learn and play golf and a private clubhouse. The Eagles Rest house on one of the properties will be used as a music venue and for weddings and other gatherings such as healthy cooking classes, the Tennessean reported.
Abbott said Beacon Land is in discussions with Woods about designing the golf course but don’t have a contract with him yet. Tiger Woods Design designed the 18-hole golf course at Bluejack National, a private club and community Beacon Land is developing near Houston, Texas.
“It would be great to have him to do this project,” Abbott said about Woods. “We have a very good relationship with him.”
Earlier this week, Thompson’s Station Municipal Planning Commission voted to recommend that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approve landowners Thomas Keenan and Gary and Portia Baker’s request that the town should annex five properties totaling 1,961 acres. The planning commission also recommended granting the landowners’ request for zoning to allow for the Farms at Thompson’s Station project, the Tennessean reported.
“This proposal sets a bar for what is possible in Williamson and Middle Tennessee and validates the form-based code and land development ordinances that Thompson’s Station has,” said Corey Napier, Thompson Station’s mayor. “We’re attracting the type of investors and citizens to our community that we want to attract.”
Napier likes that the planned lifestyle community will include a lot of green, open spaces. Abbott said Beacon Land hopes to work with builders within the Williamson County community on the residential portion of the Farms at Thompson’s Station. He added that development of the Eagles Rest Farm and Keenan Farm will initially include 1,229 acres with the rest to be pursued later, the Tennessean reported.
“We hope to do something meaningful for the community and we plan to be good citizens,” Abbott said. “We love the area. We love the people, It’s important to bring recreational golf to that area.”
