Canoe Brook CC was named 2015 Club of the Year and its Director of Golf, George Dietz II, earned the section’s Bill Strausbaugh Award. David Reasoner of The Ridgewood Country Club was named Golf Professional of the Year. For the Florida chapter, Jeff Hartigan of The Oaks Club will now serve as President.
Canoe Brook Country Club, Summit, N.J., has been named Club of the Year as part of the 2015 annual awards of the New Jersey Section of the PGA of America (NJPGA). Canoe Brook’s comprehensive clubhouse renovation is featured in the October 2015 issue of Club & Resort Business, and details of the project, including a complete on-site tour, will be provided as part of C&RB’s Design & Renovations Insights Workshop, to be held at Canoe Brook on Tuesday, November 3 (more information about the workshop, including registration information, can be found at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/design-renovation-insights-workshop-at-canoe-brook-country-club-tickets-18532802110).
Canoe Brook’s Director of Golf, George Dietz II, was also honored with the Bill Strasbaugh Award as part of the New Jersey Section’s 2015 Awards. The Strausbaugh Award is presented by each local section to PGA members who distinguished themselves in the field of club relations through their day-to-day efforts, to help bring about dramatic improvements in employment conditions in their region and/or the PGA of America.
David Reasoner, PGA Head Professional at The Ridgewood Country Club, Paramus, N.J., was recognized as the 2015 NJPGA Golf Professional of the Year, as well as the Merchandiser of the Year for private facilities. The Golf Professional of the Year award is the highest annual honor given to a NJPGA professional, and is based on leadership, integrity and a substantial record of service to the PGA and the game of golf.
Mike Adams, Director of Instruction at Hamilton Farm Golf Club, Gladstone, N.J. was named NJPGA Teacher of the Year for the third consecutive year. Kevin Beirne, PGA Head Professional at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood, N.J., captured multiple awards, receiving the Player Development award for the second consecutive year, while also being recognized as the Merchandiser of the Year for public facilities.

The NJPGA Section itself was honored as the national Herb Graffis Award winner for 2015, which is presented annually to a PGA Section that shows extraordinary and exemplary contributions in player development and growth-of-the-game programming. It marked the second time in four years that the NJPGA has received the national award.
To complement the section’s recognition, Bill Castner, a Master Professional and the PGA Head Professional at the Plainfield West 9 Golf Club, in Edison, N.J., was the recipient of the 2015 National Youth Player Development Award, an honor that recognizes a professional who has displayed extraordinary and exemplary contribution and achievement in the area of youth player development in golf.
The Florida Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) announced its 2015/16 Board of Directors at its annual meeting, which was held on September 26 at the Jupiter Hills Club, Jupiter, Fla.
Jeff Hartigan, CCM, General Manager of The Oaks Club, Osprey, Fla. will serve as the chapter’s President; Mitchell Krach, CCM, CCE, CAM, General Manager of Big Cypress Golf Club, Lakeland, Fla., will serve as Vice President, and Stephen LoGiudice, CCM, General Manager of The Club at Ibis, West Palm Beach, Fla., will be Secretary/Treasurer. Matt Lambert, CCM, General Manager of The Country Club at Mirasol, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., will become the association’s Immediate Past President.
