The club is the latest entity to show support for the New England Patriots quarterback by changing all 18 of its pin flags to No. 12, Brady’s jersey number. Brady is awaiting ruling regarding his four-game suspension for alleged involvement in underinflating footballs in the American Football Conference championship game in January.
Tom Brady’s fate rests in Roger Goodell’s hands after Tuesday’s suspension appeal hearing. At least the entire New England region has Brady’s back. Foxborough (Mass.) Country Club, located a little more than five miles down the road from Gillette Stadium, became the latest entity to show its support for the Patriots quarterback by changing all 18 of its pin flags to No. 12s, the New England Sports Network reported.
The club’s manager, Matt Killilea, credits a few club members for the idea to back Brady, who awaits Goodell’s ruling regarding his four-game suspension for alleged involvement in Deflategate, Network reported.
Deflategate is a controversy in the National Football League, stemming from an allegation that the New England Patriots used suspiciously underinflated footballs in the American Football Conference Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts on January 18, 2015.
“We feel that this is a miscarriage of justice, way too much penalty for not enough crime, and we wanted to show our support for our hometown team,” Killilea said, via Golf Digest.
Acts of solidarity supporting Brady have become par for the course these days. The Super Bowl MVP has been the subject of everything from 150-person rallies to T-shirts to even his own beer calling for his suspension to be lifted, Network reported.
Killilea added that Brady is “welcome any time” at the country club. The quarterback is no slouch on the links, so maybe he’ll take Killilea up on that offer, Network reported.
