The improvements will include a complete renovation of the 26,600-sq. ft. clubhouse with a new veranda for outside dining, locker rooms, a multipurpose room for meetings and activities, infrastructure updates and redecorating.
The Country Club of Naples (Fla.) is preparing for a $7.5 million facelift, aimed at positioning the club for the next decade and beyond, the Naples (Fla.) Daily News reported.
“I am confident that the renovation of the clubhouse will have a very positive impact,” said Holly Stephens, director of Membership and Marketing. She added that since the renovation renderings were unveiled, membership sales have increased.
There has been a substantial economic growth in Naples and this, too, has played a role in getting the stamp of approval to renovate. The project was overwhelmingly approved by the membership, the News reported.
“We are very pleased that our members have given their approval to proceed with this major renovation project,” said Club President, Charles M. “Chuck” Feeny. “We have secured an outstanding team of Naples professionals for the project.”
Stephens said members were involved with every step of the approval process, which included focus groups, satisfaction surveys, a design concept survey and the formation of a “Future Facilities Exploratory Committee.” The committee met for more than a year in conjunction with other consultants and professionals, the News reported.
“Our members are very excited about the transformation of the clubhouse to go along with an outstanding golf course and perfect location,” said Stephens.
The club was built in 1962 and originally named the Big Cypress Golf and Country Club. In 1966, members bought the club from the developer for $700,000 and renamed it The Country Club of Naples. Since then, the clubhouse has only been rebuilt once, in 1991. Pending permits, the latest renovation project is expected to last for seven months from April until November 2016, the News reported.
The improvements will include a complete clubhouse renovation with expanded dining space, a new veranda for outside dining, new locker rooms, a multipurpose room for meetings and activities, infrastructure updating and redecorating, the News reported.
Totaling 26,600 sq. ft., the clubhouse will have a capacity of 250 people. The facilities will be available for banquets and weddings. Aside from the expanded casual grill room, an outdoor dining terrace overlooking the golf course will be constructed for members to enjoy the view while they dine, the News reported.
In addition to new interiors, the exterior is also part of the face-lift. The cart barn also will have new refacing and new roofing. Additional cosmetic changes will include resurfacing of all parking lots, new landscaping and new on-course restrooms, the News reported.
Inspired by a classic old Florida feel, the new interior design is being led by interior design firm Peacock and Lewis. Also part of the team working on the project are McWard Architects, Inc. and D. Garrett Construction, Inc., as general contractor and construction manager, the News reported.
The club now sits on 192 acres and is home to an 18-hole golf course. The course itself was completely restored in 2009. It retains the original strategic elements of the Old Florida feel from the original Bill Diddel design but with modern construction including turf grasses, new drainage and irrigation, and rebuilt bunkers and tees, the News reported.
