The Lakewood Ranch, Fla., club is planning to build a Wellness Center with a fitness center and spa, a second outdoor swimming pool with a poolside bar and full-service restaurant, a permanent cart barn and an expanded parking lot. Construction will likely begin in May and take about a year to complete.
Esplanade Golf & Country Club at Lakewood Ranch (Fla.), is beginning another phase of development on its 600-acre property, the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald reported.
Final site and construction plans for the second phase of the resort-style clubhouse campus have recently been submitted to Manatee County building and development services by engineers for the community’s developer, Taylor Morrison, the Herald reported.
Plans call for construction of a Wellness Center with a fitness center and spa, a second outdoor swimming pool, and a poolside bar and grill with a full-service restaurant. Building plans also call for a permanent cart barn to house golf carts and an expansion of the current parking lot surrounding the amenity center, the Herald reported.
A third phase, which is dependent on the sale of homes, will replace a temporary golf pro shop with a permanent one with its own clubhouse, the Herald reported.
The gated community currently has a large main clubhouse, complete with fitness and aerobic centers, a grand ballroom, card and craft rooms, catering kitchen, billiard room and a library. The clubhouse faces a heated, lagoon-style pool and spa, resistance pool, outdoor barbecue area, pickleball and bocce courts, a playground, miles of walking trails and an 18-hole golf course, the Herald reported.
The community, which caters to all age groups, has a full-time lifestyle director headquartered at the main clubhouse who directs a year-round social calendar filled with catered, theme dinner-dances, holiday parties, concerts and classes, the Herald reported.
Taylor Morrison’s vice president in charge of the project, Tony Squitieri, is anticipating construction will begin in May or early June and will likely take about a year to complete, the Herald reported.
“Taylor Morrison hosted a homeowner meeting last December for our Esplanade residents in Lakewood Ranch about our construction plans, and they are very excited and looking forward to the new facilities and programs,” Squitieri said.
Taylor Morrison has plans to eventually accommodate up to 1,250 single and multifamily homes, all of which are designed with a Mediterranean influence, the Herald reported.
