Tech company RAD Systems has developed an app that uses a GPS feature to allow golfers to place orders, pay online, and receive delivery from food and beverage carts while out on the golf course.
Tech company RAD Systems has signed with Verizon’s Partner Program to launch scan4beer, an app that connects golfers with food and drinks carts while out on the golf course, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
A GPS feature is designed to pinpoint a golfer’s location, using a scannable QR code on the golf cart, to allow delivery while playing. The app also enables golfers to look at a menu, place their order and pay online, the Sentinel reported.
The app is being tested at Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club in Haines City, Fla., Hidden Lakes Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Quail Hollow Golf Course in Wesley Chapel, Fla., the Sentinel reported.
Verizon’s package includes a custom tablet that is sold to golf courses, preloaded with the app, with a bundled Verizon account. Ryan Lopez, a program manager with the Verizon Partner Program based in Orlando, said the scan4beer program is a new endeavor, part of Verizon’s initiative to connect with Internet-based companies, the Sentinel reported.
Golfers can then make a secure credit card payment from their phone or pay the beverage cart attendant with cash. The attendant’s scan4beer-equipped tablet app allows cash payments, processes credit card transactions, manages tabs and more. The idea is to make ordering more convenient, and boost golf course sales, the Sentinel reported.
