The Harbor Springs, Mich., club’s Board of Trustees unanimously selected Jeffrey Anderson to fill the management role as of February 1. Other club industry appointments include Mark Woodward as Senior Vice President of Operations at OB Sports Golf Management; Wendell Haskins as Senior Director of Diversity and Multi-Cultural Initiatives at The PGA of America; and Debbie Nipper as Vice President of Client and Vendor Relations for International Club Suppliers.
Recent personnel announcements in the club industry include the following appointments:
- Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club in Harbor Springs, Mich., has appointed Jeffrey Anderson as General Manager/Chief Operating Officer after a nationwide search. The club’s Board of Trustees unanimously selected Anderson from a group of candidates, and Anderson will begin his new position on February 1.
Anderson graduated from Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Business and obtained his Certified Club Manager certification in 1998. His previous positions have included various roles at Dearborn Country Club, Assistant General Manager at Red Run Golf Club, Club Manager at Yondotega Club in downtown Detroit, and General Manager/COO at Traverse City Golf and Country Club.
- OB Sports Golf Management has announced the appointment of Mark Woodward as Senior Vice President of Operations. Woodward is responsible for further bolstering the support and services provided by OB Sports to its more than 45 golf properties throughout the U.S.
Prior to OB Sports, Woodward dedicated more than 40 years of his professional life to the golf industry, serving in many roles such as golf course superintendent, golf facility manager, municipal parks and recreation director, municipal golf operations director, chief executive officer of a national golf association, business development manager for a golf course construction company, and owner of a golf consulting business and remodeling firm.
“We are delighted to be able to add Mark’s talents to our team,” said Phil Green, chief operating officer for OB Sports. “Mark is one of the most well rounded operators in our industry. Not only is he a talented agronomist, he thoroughly understands all facets of the golf operation. He is a great addition and we are excited to be working with him.”
- The PGA of America has named Wendell Haskins as its new Senior Director of Diversity and Multi-Cultural Initiatives. Haskins, who has created and managed high-impact, charitable events, such as the Original Tee Golf Classic and the Soul Train Invitational benefitting the Don Cornelius Foundation, will be responsible for advancing the PGA’s multi-cultural diversity strategy, and developing, managing and executing inclusionary programs and initiatives throughout the world’s largest sports organization.
Haskins started his career as a fundraising executive at the United Way of New York City in 1990, where he was division director responsible for raising $1.7 million for the health and human service agencies of New York City. Haskins served from 1996-2000 as Director of Artist and Repertoire/Artist Development for Island Records’ Def Jam Recordings label, where he worked with iconic international acts, such as LL Cool J.
- International Club Suppliers (ICS)—the sales and marketing arm for entegra Procurement Services in the golf club and resort channel—has named Debbie Nipper Vice President of Client and Vendor Relations.
In her new role, Nipper will be called upon to oversee internal and external communications, event planning, social media engagement, vendor program management and client services.
Prior to joining ICS, Nipper was employed for 18 years with Golf Ventures, a division of Meadowbrook Golf. Her responsibilities as vice president included operations, marketing and sales for a maintenance supply company servicing golf properties and the professional turf industry.
