The Fountain Hills, Ariz., club closed for the summer to improve the golf course through two deep aerifications of all greens, leveling and reseeding 31 tee boxes, minimizing overgrown areas, adding beginner and family tees, and purchasing Visage GPS systems for 80 carts. The owners also announced the club’s new leadership team, including a partnership with chef Michael O’Dowd.
Using the theme “Come back and see us again for the first time,” SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Ariz., will reopen October 4.
During the summer closure, the course and facilities received significant attention including:
- two deep aerifications of all greens;
- leveling and reseeding of 31 tee boxes;
- significant de-vegetation of numerous overgrown areas;
- softening of several key landing areas and bunkers;
- addition of beginner and family tees; and
- purchase of Visage GPS system for all 80 carts.
Owners Don and Cindy Misheff also announced a new leadership team, including Ron Rupert as Course Superintendent; Kris Starr’s promotion from buying and sales to Director of Operations; and Wes Neal as Head Golf Professional.
Consistent with the Misheffs’ philosophy of partnering with best-in-class service providers like their existing exclusive relationships with The Jim McLean Schools, Hot Stix, and Method Athlete, they have formed a partnership with Michelin 5-star, 5-diamond chef Michael O’Dowd and concert promoter Ed Leclere to operate all Food and Beverage and entertainment. O’Dowd/Leclere will open the Wicked 6 Bar and Grill by MOD, named after the course’s acclaimed finishing stretch, on October 4. Members of The Guess Who will be featured at the opening, which will be free to the public.
The restaurant has been completely refurbished including a show kitchen, an outdoor pizza kitchen/bar and a chef’s table and wine room. The interior redecorating reflects a new upbeat vibe. The new partnership will also operate the redesigned beverage carts and the Roadhouse Grill at the turn.
