Following the announcement earlier this year that Kevin Carroll would succeed long-time General Manager Chris Borders upon his retirement, the club that will be the site of the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship and also hosted U.S. Open and PGA Championship tournaments has added Peter Lovelace as Club Manager, Erica Smith as Membership Director and Lisa Henderson as Catering Director.
The Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC) has welcomed three new management staff members to its leadership team, continuing the transition that began earlier this year when Kevin Carroll, formerly General Manager of The Loxahatchee Club, was tabbed to succeed long-time AAC GM Chris Borders upon Borders’ retirement.
In making the announcements, the Johns Creek, Ga.-based club noted that the new hires will be part of an effort to “incorporate fresh new ideas about how to conduct [the club’s] business.”
The new members of the AAC management team include Peter Lovelace, previously with Bethesda (Md.) Country Club, who will now be AAC’s new Club Manager. In 2007, while with The Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., Lovelace earned the “Rising Star” award as part of the Excellence In Club Management Awards co-sponsored by The McMahon Group and Club & Resort Business Magazine.
Other new members of the AAC team include Erica Smith, who has come from the Las Vegas (Nev.) Country Club to be AAC’s new Membership Director, and Lisa Henderson, previously Director of Catering and Sales at Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., who is the AAC’s new Catering Director.
“These three individuals have the experience and expertise needed to serve the membership at the Atlanta Athletic Club at a very high level,” said Carroll. “We are proud to have them on board and look forward to new initiatives, service models and a focus on building relationships with our current and prospective members. Since we are hosting the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship, this selection of experienced leadership could not have come at a better time.”
