The presidents of GCSAA, the PGA of America and the Club Managers Association of America have sent USA Today a joint response to a recent column attacking golf.
“…there’s far more to golf than mere lack of equality. Golf is an environmental nightmare,” the article claimed, “a waste of space, of fertilizer, of water. Think of the vegetables that could be grown on those useless lawns, bathed in pesticides to keep those fairways looking unnaturally like carpeting. Think of the lovely meadows, walking trails, wildlife sanctuaries.”
The response from the golf organizations sought to correct these misconceptions and emphasize the positive economical, environmental and human-impact benefits of golf.
