The Estero (Fla.) Country Club recently completed a $1.3 million complete restoration of its golf course irrigation system. The club expects the new irrigation system to decrease water consumption, save money and increase the aesthetic appeal of the course.
Ragan Technical Solutions, Inc. (RTS) was brought in to plan, engineer and design the new irrigation system. RTS also oversaw construction of the system, created a GPS map of all underground components, and programmed the computerized controls for the system.
The renovation project features a high-density, polyethylene leak-proof pipe that should last for 50 years with no leaks. Additionally, a greater number of part-circle sprinklers, spaced closely together throughout the course, were installed to give Estero CC the ability to carefully contour the golf course turf lines and apply water only where needed.
The entire project took about four months to plan and another four months to install. Throughout the installation, Estero CC was able to keep its golf course open for play, with minimal inconvenience to golfers.
