Las Cruces (Texas) Police have arrested a suspect in the April theft and vandalism of five golf carts from the Las Cruces Country Club, according to a Las Cruces Police news release.
John Ryan Kinkaid, 22, was arrested and charged with one count of non-residential burglary, a fourth-degree felony.
Police detectives alleged that on April 27, Kinkaid and four friends broke into the country club after a party at his Camino Del Rex residence. The five each allegedly took a golf cart and, after riding around the golf course for a while, drove them back to Kinkaid’s residence.
Detectives found out that Kinkaid stored the carts in his back yard, according to police officials. One was eventually given to an individual and transported to Albuquerque, one was taken to Texas and the remaining three were concealed in a storage unit just south of Las Cruces, says an article in the El Paso Times.
On May 27, police say, Kinkaid acknowledged that he transported the three remaining golf carts from the storage unit and abandoned them in the desert.
Kinkaid was being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, with bond set at $10,000.
