Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has announced that construction of its 400-room luxury resort, which began this month in the Bonnet Creek Resort complex adjacent to Walt Disney World at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2010.
The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel and Spa at Bonnet Creek—the first mixed-used development undertaken by parent company Wyndham Worldwide—will be managed by Wyndham Hotel Management Inc.
The design calls for a 7,000-sq. ft. Wyndham Blue Harmony spa and fitness center; 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and conference space, including an 8,000-sq.-ft. main ballroom designed for groups up to 600; a full-service specialty restaurant and a three-meal, open-kitchen display restaurant; a pool bar and grill; a lobby bar; and the Wyndham brand’s new combination café, barista and food mart, named "Eat. Refresh. Live."
The resort also will feature a child-friendly, "zero-entry" swimming pool that allows swimmers to enter gradually deepening water without the use of steps or ladders; shade cabanas equipped with televisions, ceiling fans, refrigerators and plush furnishings; whirlpool spas; arcade; and recreation room. Shuttle bus service will take guests to Walt Disney World theme parks, and golf will be offered at an 18-hole course designed by Rees Jones Inc. that is now under development at the Bonnet Creek Resort complex.
