The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Calif., has been selected as the site for the Historic Hotels of America 2008 annual meeting. Approximately 200 people representing historic hotels, resorts and inns throughout the country will attend the meeting from November 11-13, 2008.
"The Mission Inn offers a spectacular setting to host a meeting of historic hoteliers," said Thierry Roch, executive director of Historic Hotels of America. "With its remarkable architecture, art and antiques collection, and chapels, this hotel will leave our attendees speechless. The Mission Inn is a true preservation success story-saved from the wrecking ball through the hard work of the local community."
Occupying an entire city block, the Mission Inn is a destination in and of itself. This hotel defies conventional descriptions with its oddly integrated assemblage of arcades and gardens, turrets and domes, flying buttresses and spiraling staircases, catacombs and carillon towers. Filled with more than $5 million dollars in antiques and artifacts, the Mission Inn offers tours of the hotel through the Mission Inn Foundation, which operates the on-site museum.
