Adding or improving fitness components often means competing with local health clubs. The new fitness center at the Trenton Country Club in Trenton, N.J., has proved successful in helping to win this race.
“It is so new that people are really excited about it and using it on an extremely regular basis,” says John Case, General Manager. “Some people have dropped their gym memberships, and I find that really encouraging.”
In order to compete effectively, the Dragon Ridge Country Club in Henderson, Nev., knows that its upscale clientele expects the best, and is working that into the design of its forthcoming 14,000-sq. ft. fitness center.
“A lot of it has to do with the finishes, like a granite-topped control desk, water features, and art within the fitness center to make it more inviting,” says Robert R. McKirahan, Director of Operations. “It will make members feel like they’re in an upscale spa, with beautiful stone work, oversized showers, and lounge areas.”
Small perks can also go a long way. Trenton Country Club offers towel service and complimentary water, while Quail Ridge Country Club passes around chilled towels and has televisions on each individual machine.
