One year after taking over the historic Gideon Putnam Resort, Delaware North Cos., Inc. is embarking on the first phase of an $18 million face-lift for the Saratoga Springs, N.Y. landmark.
The work, to be completed in phases over the next few years, includes restoring the resort’s lobby, relocating the gift shop, and making updates to the spa. Work began earlier this month and the first phase of the lobby renovations should be completed by April, just as the Gideon Putnam heads into its peak season.
“All of the renovation stages will be completed with minimal disruption to guests and visitors at the resort,” says Tim Smith, Gideon Putnam’s General Manager.
In addition to the structural renovations and refinishing efforts, the company is also renovating the property’s famed Roosevelt Baths. The spa will soon feature new plants and a color scheme, and a transition “relaxation” room is also being added.
