The beachfront restaurant, market and club at Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, S.C., has opened its first floor, with plans to open the second floor by the end of this month.

A new beachfront restaurant and club has opened at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C., the Hilton Head-based Island Packet reported.

The two-story, 25,000-sq. ft. Sea Pines Beach Club opened its first floor last week. The second floor will open later this month when construction is completed, according to Cary Corbitt, vice president of sports and operations for the resort, the Island Packet reported.

The first floor offers an oceanfront restaurant and beach bar called Coast, as well as a retail store, a beachfront market and expanded restrooms, showers and changing rooms, Corbitt said. The second floor will feature an outdoor deck and covered bar, and space for private events, the Island Packet reported.

Beside Marriott’s Monarch at Sea Pines, the club cost about $12 million and replaced the old oceanfront club, built more than 40 years ago, the Island Packet reported.

The new beach club is part of a continued effort by the resort’s owners to reinvest in the south-island destination. In all, Corbitt said, The RiverStone Group has spent about $50 million upgrading the resort’s amenities since purchasing it in 2005, the Island Packet reported.

Next up is the Harbour Town Golf Links clubhouse, which was knocked down after this year’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing golf tournament. In its place will rise a $20 million-plus, three-story building with an art gallery, a restaurant, and men’s and women’s locker rooms for tournament players and the public, among other features, the Island Packet reported.

The new 18,000-sq. ft. building will feature 150 full-size lockers, showers, a steam room and a sitting area large enough to accommodate the more than 100 PGA Tour golfers who play in the Heritage. Also included will be an expanded pro shop, a new restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the golf course, and private dining and meeting space that could accommodate tournament sponsors, the Island Packet reported.

The clubhouse will connect to the resort’s conference center, according to plans. It also will offer a small bar and expansive deck overlooking the putting green and ninth hole, the Island Packet reported.

The new clubhouse should be ready by next year’s tournament, Corbitt said.
