The Naples, Fla. property is adding 14,000 sq. ft. to its clubhouse to double its dining room space and add a new indoor/outdoor lounge area. It is also doubling the size of its game room, expanding its Fitness Center & Spa, and adding a second resort pool.
The Players Club & Spa at Lely Resort in Naples, Fla. has begun a major project that will add nearly 14,000 square feet to its clubhouse, expanding it to just under 31,000 square feet. The property’s Fitness Center & Spa will also undergo major upgrades and a second resort-style pool will be added.
Highlights of the project include:
- Doubling dining room space and adding a new indoor/outdoor lounge area. The expanded dining area will include a fireplace wall and decorative wine storage wall.
- Creating several intimate sitting areas in the indoor dining lounge, with upholstered banquette seating and club chairs. An adjacent dining terrace will overlook the tropical pool deck, and the private dining room will be given added drama and versatility for a variety of events and occasions, with the addition of an oversized wood dining table to seat thirty-two guests.
- A new game room will double in size, with two large flat-screen televisions and additional game tables added. The computer room will be updated with a more inviting layout, and new bookshelves and lounge seating will provide increased function and usability for members and their guests.
- The renovation of the Fitness Center & Spa will include adding an additional exercise area, redesigning the current aerobics studio, and adding a new one. The aerobics area will nearly triple in size and the exercise equipment area will nearly double. The Spa Wing will grow to include four treatment rooms, an ante room and a nail salon.
- Work has now begun on a second resort pool to supplement the current resort-style lagoon and spa that features elaborate waterfalls, a tropical island, cabanas and a beach area around the pool, along with a lap/fitness pool set up for water aerobics. The second free-form pool will comfortably accommodate members using these extraordinary resort-style amenities.
The new improvements follow the addition of a full kitchen at the property’s Tiki Bar in 2011, which created a favorite member location for enjoying live entertainment weekly and social events and games on weekends, with seven large flat- screen TVs broadcasting The NFL Ticket on Sundays during football season and other sporting events throughout the year.
In late 2012, construction of a new tennis complex began on a new four-acre site that nearly doubled the size of The Players Club’s previous complex. The thirteen new state-of-the-art Har-Tru tennis courts opened for play in November 2012. In March 2013, an expansive new pro shop and lounge opened, featuring the Courtside Café, a large veranda with outdoor seating, and a state-of-the-art computerized court reservation system.
“This is a very unique club”, said George Hunt CCM, General Manager. “The members have an extremely active lifestyle and social calendar, whether it is playing organized tennis, taking group fitness classes or attending one of our club-sponsored events. Our South Beach-style Welcome Back Party and the end-of-season Rockin’ Moroccan Party had approximately 500 members in attendance each.
“This expansion will create growth for our existing programs and allow great new programs to be developed,” Hunt adds. “The possibilities are infinite, and ideas are swirling around each department of the exciting things to come. Additional wellness activities, group spa parties, a wine dinner in our new private dining area are now among the many items we are discussing, to continue to follow our mission to enhance lives by creating memorable experiences for our members.”
