The competition, to be held in Las Vegas November 7-10, pits 50 top burger builders in a tournament-style format, vying for a top prize of $25,000 and the right to represent the burger category in the World Food Championships.
Kraft Foodservice has announced that A.1. Steak Sauce will return as the official sponsor for the World Burger Championship in this year’s World Food Championships event, taking place November 7–10 in Las Vegas.
The World Burger Championship will welcome 50 of the top burger builders to a tournament-style competition that will narrow the field down to 10 semifinalists, from which one lucky winner will be crowned World Burger Champion and receive a prize of $25,000.
The World Burger Champion will go on to represent the burger category on Championship Sunday at the Final Table. The World Burger Championship will take place Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 at the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas.
“A.1. Steak Sauce is proud to be a part of the World Food Championships for the second straight year,” said Rebecca Daugherty, Business Manager—Enhancers, Kraft Foodservice. “A.1. Steak Sauce will be interwoven into the competition again as an integral flavor in the World Burger Championship, challenging competitors to elevate burgers to an art form. We’re excited to see what kind of burgers the competitors will create using America’s leading steak sauce.”
The World Food Championships is the highest stakes food competition in the world. The competition will bring culinary champions from all walks of life into one arena so that they can square off for food supremacy and a share of the $300,000 prize. The four-day event will feature over 400 competitors battling for prizes across iconic categories such as BBQ, chili, burger, sandwich, bacon, dessert and recipe.
On Championship Sunday, only one contestant will remain, claiming the World Food Champion title, along with the grand prize and serious bragging rights. When the World Champions are announced, foodservice operators will have the opportunity to share the award-winning A.1. Steak Sauce burger recipes with their customers.
“We are thrilled to welcome A.1. Steak Sauce back to the World Food Championships’ field,” said Mike McCloud, president and CEO of Trybe Targeting, producers of the World Food Championships. “They’re one of the MVP brands in the food world, and it’s great to have them on our team.”
Last year’s World Burger Champion, Jason Stucki of Lucky 13 in Salt Lake City, Utah was selected out of the hundreds of cooks who competed. Jason earned first place for his unique Cajun Bacon Candy Burger made with A.1. Steak Sauce, caramelized onions, a roasted red pepper aioli, and sweet and spicy bacon. Jason also took home $20,000 on his way to finishing as runner-up in the overall World Food Championships competition standings.
