Federal officials will handle any prosecution stemming from an alleged $1 million embezzlement at Oneida Golf & Country Club, a 200-acre private golf course and country club in Green Bay, Wis.
Details of the probe remain scarce, but according to an article in the Greenbay Press Gazette, Assistant U.S. Attorney Tammy Jo Hock confirmed Monday that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will handle the case if charges are warranted.
A letter to club members from club President Bill Plummer that surfaced last week said a former employee had confessed to the embezzlement when interviewed by Green Bay police detectives and agents from the FBI.
Federal authorities have asked club officials and members to not discuss the case with the public, Plummer said in the letter.
