The new championship golf course in New Orleans’ City Park evoked mentions of top public venues such as Torrey Pines and Bethpage Black when it was officially unveiled on April 21. The course is the centerpiece of a $26 million public-private project that is being hailed as a symbol of the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
South Course at City Park’s Bayou Oaks to Open April 21
The $26 million course will join the shorter North Course, which reopened in 2008, three years after the entire golf complex in New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The project is aimed at offering higher-level play to the public and helping to fund both the park and a mixed-income residential community nearby.

The Detroit-area club is also set to announce it will host the U.S. Amateur as part of its centennial in 2016; another U.S. Open would be its seventh, and first since 1996.
La Costa Golf Courses To Undergo Restoration
While the South Course routing is to remain the same, four greens on the South Course will be relocated, all other greens on the North Course will be replaced.
