Tom Watson, who developed his own game playing on the former Santa Fe Hills executive course in the city as a youth, says his new “Watson 9” in Maryville, Mo. is being “well-utilized,” especially by junior players. The Sykes/Lady Overland Park Golf Club par-3 has become “more popular recently,” reports General Manager Curt Nelson, thanks in part to a new unlimited-play-pass program.
The total number of rounds played on the Maryville, Mo., property’s Sechrest 18 and Watson 9 golf courses has grown by 4,900 over three years. The property is planning on boosting marketing efforts for its nine-hole golf course, emphasizing that the layout is open to all golfers, not just children and teenagers.
The nine-hole golf course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park will be ready to open in the summer of 2015, and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation announced that it is becoming a partner in the Tom Watson Junior Golf Course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park in Maryville, Mo. The donation is part of the foundation’s Links Across America initiative, established to create feeder short courses for young people, families, beginners and people with disabilities.
