The Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort was named the 2017 Golf Course of the Year from the National Golf Course Owners Association, based on quality of golf course and management, and contributions to the local community and the game. Ak-Chin in Maricopa, Ariz., received the 2017 Player Development Award, which recognizes the property with the most successful player development program.
The Indiana resort will host the tournament that is part of the Legends Tour in July 2017. Coupled with the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship that will begin in 2018, there will now be two major championships for senior women players.
In 2017, the historic golf course will mark its 100th birthday. “It has truly become an iconic landmark, thanks to the vision of Bill Cook and Steve Ferguson, and we are very proud to continue maintaining its historic tradition and experience for our guests at the resort,” said Director of Golf Dave Harner.
