Sacred Heart University acquired the semi-private Milford, Conn., club in December 2015, and has leveled a number of trees, eliminated several bunkers to increase speed of play, and resurfaced cart paths. The routing of the original front and back nine holes was also restored this year.
Sacred Heart University to Buy Great River GC
The Fairfield, Conn., university plans to purchase the 18-hole golf course and its 32,000-sq. ft. clubhouse for $6 million, allowing it to more than double the school’s acreage and develop new academic programs in golf and hospitality management. The sale is expected to be complete in December.
