When the resort operator opens its new Gurnee, Ill. property next year, F&B offerings will include Barnwood, a restaurant serving locally sourced small plates and craft cocktails that will also be open to non-resort customers. Great Wolf will also try to tap into the emerging food-hall trend with a multi-restaurant, open-seating dining area anchored by four diverse eateries featuring “higher-end, family-friendly” offerings.

The Philip Anschutz family, which acquired the property from three co-investors to obtain sole ownership, also owns The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo. Denver Hires Mapping Company to Make Drone Videos of Courses
The City of Denver Golf division of the Parks & Recreation department will post the footage of its seven public courses and driving range, taken by a mapping company that secured an FAA exemption for commercial purposes, on its revamped website.
The Broadmoor to Host 2018 U.S. Senior Open
The event, scheduled for June 28 through July 1 on the Colorado Springs, Colo., property’s East Course, will correspond with the resort’s centennial celebration. It will be the eighth USGA championship held at the property.

City to Revive Shuttered Appletree GC
The Fountain (Colo.) City Council recently approved an agreement to take control of the Colorado Springs, Colo., property, which has been closed since 2006. In the deal, current owner Rialto Capital Advisors would give the club to the city at no cost and throw in another $1 million to cover the assessment and pay for a facelift for the golf course.
Garden of the Gods Club Sold
A consortium of local investors purchased the Colorado Springs, Colo., property with plans to add a wellness center that will be integrated with the existing spa. Previous owner Sunrise Company acquired the property in 2007 and invested more than $5 million in capital improvements since then.
Gleneagle GC to Close November 1
After nearly 40 years of operation, the Colorado Springs, Colo. course, built as the centerpiece of what was originally the Donala residential community, will now shut because rounds and revenue have declined while costs for water and other expenses have increased. The club’s pool, Palms Restaurant and banquet facilities will stay open, it was announced.
The Broadmoor Scraps Expansion Project
Citing insurmountable logistical issues, the Colorado Springs, Colo., hotel has abandoned plans to revamp its golf courses into a single venue to attract large tournaments. The plan would have required closing a 3,000-foot stretch of Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard, which neighbors feared would eliminate an evacuation route if a wildfire broke out in the foothills.
