Under the alliance, the golf operator will install Topgolf’s Toptracer Range platform, branded as Launchbox Golf, at select BCG facilities nationwide. The technology uses 21-inch monitors mounted in each hitting bay to display the shape of each shot, distance, ball speed, launch angle, height and more, all saved to a user’s profile.
Billy Casper Golf (BCG) has announced an alliance with Topgolf®, wherein it will install the company’s Toptracer Range platform, branded as Launchbox Golf, at select BCG facilities nationwide.
Best known for the revolutionary on-screen ball-tracking technology seen on PGA TOUR and major championship television broadcasts, Toptracer Range transforms driving ranges into practice and entertainment destinations. It combines tech and fun to create a superior experience that is perfect for all skill levels, allowing friends and family to compete in a variety of games or play virtual golf on simulated courses. The latter offers a convenience factor for beginners who can play nine or 18 holes in a low-pressure environment. New courses, like Pebble Beach Golf Links, are constantly being added.
1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Va., is the first BCG course to offer Launchbox Golf powered by Toptracer Range, allowing players to track and analyze every shot hit during practice sessions. Ten hitting bays at 1757 now feature Launchbox Golf powered by Toptracer Range.
“Golf’s latent demand has reached a historic level at 38 million Americans interested in playing golf, and cutting-edge technology like Toptracer Range is the perfect tool to engage new players,” said Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “Our goal is to evolve the golf experience nationwide with Launchbox Golf powered by Toptracer. It’s an excellent way for our facilities to differentiate themselves and provide our guests a new way to play and practice.”
BCG endeavors to make the golf experience more appealing without losing tradition. The company has consistently shown its commitment to grow the game through boundless marketing ideation, data science and savvy operations.
Using 21-inch monitors that are mounted in each hitting bay, Toptracer Range technology displays the shape of each shot, distance (carry and total), ball speed, launch angle, height and more. Performance data is automatically recorded under a player’s user profile, so that he/she can access stats throughout the season and see areas where improvement is needed. Additionally, the new Toptracer Range community app (free for iOS and Android) automatically links with the user profile and records player stats, displays global leaderboards and uses GPS to find Toptracer Range-enhanced facilities.
Owned by global sports entertainment leader Topgolf, Toptracer is best known for the ball-tracking graphics used during televised golf tournaments such as The Open Championship and Ryder Cup, among others.
