Five fire departments fought the blaze at the Boerne, Texas property, which is co-owned by country music singer George Strait. Patrons were evacuating the structure when crews arrived on November 4, and while there were no injuries, the building is a total loss.
On November 4, fire consumed the clubhouse at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort & Spa in Boerne, Texas, which is owned by country music star George Strait, Firehouse.com reported.
Firefighters found that flames had consumed the attic and were burning through the roof of the clubhouse when they arrived around 7 p.m. Mutual aid was quickly called because of heavy fire conditions, according to a post on the Boerne Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page.
Boerne Fire Chief Doug Meckel said patrons were evacuating the structure when his crews arrived. Crews used a defensive attack, focusing their efforts on protecting nearby structure from the intense heat, Firehouse.com reported.
At least five fire departments were on the scene with dozens of firefighters battling the blaze, as flames shot into the sky. In addition to the Boerne firefighters, the departments from Leon Springs, Grey Forest, Sisterdale and Bergheim were assisting, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
According to a post from the Boerne Broadcasting Company Saturday night, people were advised to stay away from the scene because “firefighters and local residents do not need the interruption of your curiosity.”
Strait and area entrepreneur Tom P. Cusick Jr. bought and renovated the resort in 2011, the Express-News reported.
Investigators from the Kendall County Fire Marshal’s office were called to investigate the cause of the fire, Firehouse.com reported.
