The plan for the 226-acre golf course property in Hobe Sound, Fla., failed to meet some county developer requirements, including addressing how exotic vegetation would be removed, locations of parking spots for disabled people, and missing labels for wells and irrigation structures. The developer could still submit a revised application addressing the problems.
The second plan for an exclusive golf course that’s being developed by NBA Hall-of-Famer and avid golfer Michael Jordan again has failed to meet some county development requirements, but it also complies with others, the Stuart, Fla.-based TC Palm reported.
The Hobe Sound, Fla., course would be on 226 acres that once was used to grow citrus.
Grove Golf Club LLC is the project applicant, and Jordan would be the principal owner of the golf course. Becker B-14 Grove Ltd. owns the land, according to county records. Failure to meet county staff review doesn’t mean a project fails altogether because a developer still could submit a revised application addressing problems, TC Palm reported.
The application, for example, fails to address how exotic vegetation would be removed from the site, according to county staff’s April 20 report. It also indicates parking spots for people with disabilities in the wrong location. Some issues are more technical, such as missing labels for wells and irrigation structures, TC Palm reported.
The proposal does meet other county requirements. Roads around the golf course, for example, would continue to function at a county-approved level of service once the project is done, TC Palm reported.
Representatives for the golf course development team could not be reached by TC Palm for comment.
Among other detail of the proposed development is a 9,800-sq. ft. clubhouse, TC Palm reported.
Aside from county staff review, the proposal would go through two public hearings. The Local Planning Agency, an adviser to the County Commission, is to consider the project and give its recommendation to the commission, which would have final say. No meetings have been scheduled, TC Palm reported.
