After an employee of the Austin, Texas golf course noticed that a Great Horned Owl had fishing line wrapped around it while perched in a pond, Golf Course Superintendent Craig Loving freed the bird with a pair of pliers, shovel handle, and a pep talk.
Craig Loving, Golf Course Superintendent of Lost Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas, went on a wildlife rescue mission at the property after one of the club’s employees noticed a fishing line wrapped around a Great Horned Owl, the Austin-based KXAN-TV reported.
The owl was stuck near the first tee box. With a pair of pliers, Loving went to work on freeing the owl, KXAN-TV reported.
“He kept slamming his beak down… but I kind of talked to it a little bit,” said Loving. “So we got a shovel and took the shovel handle and used it as a perch, then I walked him out of there.”
After a successful transport to land, the owl took off from the club, KXAN-TV reported.
